VISHUDDHA, THE THROAT CHAKRA

Vishuddha or our throat chakra is the fifth primary chakra. Located in our throat and is represented by our innate nature and ability to articulate, it controls our need and power to self-expression. The throat chakra is responsible for communication, and our ability to speak our personal truth.

Physically, it is believed to be situated in the neck and throat. It is also associated with both the ears and the mouth, and thus its relation with our hearing and speaking skills, so when this chakra is misaligned and we suffer from its imbalance, we experience issues with creativity and communication.

Often, it is also physically associated with our thyroid gland, so when a person struggles with Vishuddha imbalance, it is believed that he may also experience thyroid imbalance as a physical symptom, including sore throat and hearing difficulties.

VISHUDDHA IMBALANCE SYMPTOMS:

  • Being fearful about speaking your personal truth

  • Having difficulties in expressing your thoughts

  • Anxiety to social events, always anxious about speaking and communicating with other people.

So let’s avoid welcoming stress into our inner self. Negative thoughts and stressful events create tension especially in our vocal folds and it greatly leads to worsening medical issues such as vocal nodules, fatigue, and vocal problems.

HOW TO BALANCE YOUR THROAT CHAKRA:

  • Yoga

  • Morning meditation to enhance the clarity of the mind

  • Pranayama - breathing practices to support the flow of energy

  • Use throat stones

  • Practice Abhyanga.
